'OUR MEMORY BELONGS TO US' WINS HUMAN RIGHTS DOX AWARD AT DOKUFEST by Maria Kristensen

We are happy to announce that Our Memory Belongs to Us by Rami Farah and co-directed by Signe Byrge Sørensen has won the Human Rights DOX award at the 20th jubilee edition of DokuFest in Kosovo. 

The jury stated that they “decided to recognize a film that spoke to the documentary relevance of personal and collective remembrance when marked by enactment of defiance to state violence. […] Through both a staged screening and reconstruction of events the retelling and performance of memory we are invited to ask questions about the documentary film as a vehicle of remembrance.”

'FLEE' WINS 3 AWARDS AT ANNECY by Maria Kristensen

It was an incredible night for Flee at this year’s Annecy International Animation Festival - one of the world’s absolute leading film festivals for animation films. ‘Flee’ took home three awards - Best Original Music, the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution and last, but definitely not least: The Cristal Award for Feature Film.

Many from the team were present at Annecy and were able to accept the awards in person, which was wonderful after a year of mostly virtual festivals and appearances.

Flee is directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, and produced by Monica Hellström & Signe Byrge Sørensen for Final Cut for Real. Animation producer is Charlotte de la Gournerie from Sun Creature Studio. The film is coproduced by Jean-François Le Corre, Mathieu Courtois (Vivement Lundi ! FR)., Charlotte Most (MostFilm SE) and Maria Ekerhovd (Mer Film NO).

'THE DISTANT BARKING OF DOGS' NOMINATED FOR TVPRISEN 2020 by Maria Kristensen

We are very proud to announce that The Distant Barking of Dogs is nominated for Tvprisen 2020. The film, directed by Simon Lereng Wilmont, is nominated in the category for Best Documentary along with nine other nominees.

Tvprisen is an annual event arranged by the Danish Producers’ Association. An award show where the TV-industry acknowledges and celebrates the best Danish TV-programmes of the year.

The 2020 awards will be presented on January 18th at Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center in Copenhagen.

'WHAT WALAA WANTS' WINS SPECIAL JURY PRIZE AT HOT DOCS by Maria Kristensen

We're so proud that What Walaa Wants, directed by Christy Garland, won the Special Jury Prize at Hot Docs 2018.

The jury said the following about the film: “We award the DGC Special Jury Prize - Canadian Feature Documentary to What Walaa Wants for displaying an extraordinary bond between filmmaker and subject which then carries over to the audience. Christy Garland creates an exceptional emotional arc by focusing on Walaa’s growth and transformation.”

'STRONG ISLAND' WINS GOTHAM AWARD FOR BEST DOCUMENTARY by Maria Kristensen

Yance Ford's amazing Strong Island won the award for Best Documentary at the Gotham Independent Film Awards on Sunday night, November 26 2017. 

In his acceptance speech director Yance Ford said: "There is nothing exceptional about the family in Strong Island. Hard work did not spare this family from the unrelenting systemic violence that has stalked black Americans since the founding of this nation.

'A DROWNING MAN' WINS GRAND PRIX FOR BEST INTERNATIONAL SHORT AT CORK FILM FESTIVAL by Maria Kristensen

Mahdi' Fleifel's poweful short film A Drowning Man took home the Grand Prix for Best International Short at the 62nd Cork Film Festival, held November 10-19 2017. 

Since the Cork Film Festival is an Oscar® qualifying film festival the win allows A Drowning Man to join the longlist for the 90th Academy Awards in the Live Action Short Film category.
